The idea behind
La Federazione Abruzzese del Michigan was born in the minds of a few local Abruzzese-Americans years ago, but came into existence
in December of 1999 with our first general assembly meeting. At this meeting, individuals were nominated to the board and
an election was held, electing the officials for the board of directors. Our first agenda was presented, and the people in
attendance had a chance to enroll as the first official members of the club.
The goals of the Federation are as follows:
a. Unite and represent clubs, organizations, and people of Abruzzese origin, or legally
married to people of such origin;
b.
Protect, defend, and increase the Abruzzese cultural identity in every field of human endeavor;
c. Involve the Abruzzesi in recreational, social, ethnic, religious,
and sports activities and functions;
d.
Facilitate and promote contacts and cultural and commercial exchanges with the Abruzzo Region, and with the other Abruzzo
Federations, clubs, and associations in Italy, Michigan, and the world;
e. Promote relations with American institutions, and with private and public organizations
of Italian and Abruzzese origin;
f.
Provide scholarships and promote cultural exchange between Abruzzese students at the high school, undergraduate and graduate
college level;
g. Promote any other activity compatible
with the spirit of these By-Laws.
Gli scopi della Federazione sono:
a) Riunire e rappresentare i clubs ed associazioni
Abruzzesi e tutte le persone di discendenza Abruzzese o che abbiano contratto unione legale con Abruzzese;
b) Tutelare, difendere e potenziare in ogni campo l'identita' culturale
Abruzzese;
c) Riunire gli Abruzzesi in attivita' e funzioni
ricreative, sociali, culturali, folcloristiche, religiose e sportive;
d) Facilitare e promuovere contatti e scambi culturali e commerciali con la Regione
Abruzzo, con le altre Federazioni, clubs ed associazioni Abruzzesi, in Italia, in Michigan e nel mondo;
e) Promuovere relazioni con istituzioni Americane e con enti pubblici
e privati di origine Italiana e Abruzzese;
f)
Provvedere borse di studio e quindi promuovere scambi culturali fra studenti Abruzzesi a livello pre e post universitario;
Ogni altra attivita' che sia conforme allo spirito del presente Statuto.
